Winter Wonderland

So, here it is, March 2 and it finally looks like Christmas.  Yesterday, I wanted to put up my Christmas tree again, re-wrap all the kids presents, watch Christmas movies and drink hot chocolate.  Of course, I didn't do any of those things, but I sure wanted to.

This morning, was cold and crisp.  I got a call from my husband telling me the sky was blue and clear; it would be a great morning to take some pictures with my newly-upgraded Canon Rebel T3i.  Sometimes I forget that I am not actually a slave to my house and I can go shoot pictures on a beautiful snowy morning if I have the desire.  So, Sadie, Michael and I were off.  We just drove around Leland and Salem backroads, and I'd stop when ever I saw something that caught my eye.  I was hoping to get a good shot of Maple Mountain all covered in white with a brilliant blue sky as a backdrop, but the clouds were too dark. So I got West Mountain instead.

Michael is a great photography buddy as he'll just quietly sit in the back with my phone playing on whatever game is currently in to.  Sadie, on the other hand screamed every time I got out of the car.  That makes Michael even more saintly, as he'd just ignore her.

For about 45 minutes, I drove around.  My third or fourth stop was in front of a herd of cattle.  There were lots of babies and I just had to take their pictures.  I think I made those mama cows very nervous; I was afraid they were going to charge at me.  Luckily, I am still in one piece.  I also nearly got my car stuck in the snow at that spot. What an adventure.

This cow was very friendly.  As soon as I walked over to the fence with my camera, this beauty comes sauntering up to talk.  I was intimidated by those horns with my as I'd just finished shooting the nervous mama cows.  I could have taken quite a few more pictures with this cow if I hadn't been so anxious.

After I was finished, I came home pulling in to the garage.  I went to Sadie's side of the car to unbuckle her and she started crying again.  There is no winning with her today.  I hope she's feeling okay.
