My Great-Grandma's Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies

My great grandma was a fabulous lady, and although Matt says I say it backwards, we always called her Grandma Great.  She was always baking something delicious or had something yummy sitting on her table.  I didn't get to spend a lot of time with her, but a few times I did get to bake with her.  Once we made these wonderful cookies which she always seemed to have on hand.  She invariably colored her sugar pink for these cookies.

Cream:

1 lb. butter or margarine
2 c. sugar
3 eggs

Add:

1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla (I was told by my cousin that her secret to making these cookies fabulous was that she never measured the vanilla)

Then add:

4 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda

Roll into balls the size of walnuts and dip into colored sugar.  Place on baking sheet and press down with a glass.
Bake at 375.  (The baking time was not specified on the recipe, my guess is between 7-10 minutes.)
